How Do Steroids Work?
By Bryan Evans

Steroids are strong drugs that are used to enhance your athletic performance. When the term "anabolic steroids" is used, this means the building of body tissue. When you take steroids, you will enter a state of euphoria, and you will become more aggressive. This will happen because the steroids will have an effect on the body which is similar to increased testosterone. Because you will have a higher level of energy and aggressiveness, you can perform at a higher level. Therefore, many athletes take steroids so that they can perform at a higher level which gives them an edge over their competition.

When steroids are taken in smaller dosage, they can be used in the treatment of a variety of medical conditions, many of which are quite serious. When you hear about steroid use, more often than not, it is anabolic steroids. There are different types of steroids, such as corticosteroids, but these do not have the effect of helping you build muscle, and they will often be used to treat diseases such as asthma. Anabolic steroids are the ones you hear about the most, because they are often abused by athletes in various fields, from to Olympic competitors.

Steroids can be taken in one of two ways, and this is by mouth, generally in the form of pills, or by injecting them directly into the body with a needle. While the second method is more effective, it can also be risky, and if you share the needle with anyone else, you run the risk of transmitting various diseases, which can range from Hepatitis B to HIV. Many people will take steroids in much higher dosages so that they can achieve better results. Another technique is to gradually enhance the amount that you take over time, and this technique is known as "pyramiding."
